The Tale- Tell Heart -Edgar Allan Poe
Short story telling can be an art
of a genius, if executed impeccably and it cannot be argued that Edgar Allan
Poe was indeed a genius when narrating short stories. “The Tell- Tale Heart”
written by Edgar Allan Poe in such example of impeccable writing that has
infinite metaphors and ironies in- depth it’s swift story
telling.
The story describes a story of a
night about the committing of a murder and then surprisingly the guilt
associated with it which leads to the obvious that form the finale of the
story. What distinguishes the story
telling is the style and style here refers to structure of events and the flow
that leads to the events. It actually comes as no surprise that Edgar Allan Poe
is considered as the inventor of detective fiction in American writing history.
It very efficiently comes out in this excellent short story.
At one point in the story it would seem that
perhaps the entire events is narrated from the point of view of death itself,
but no the writing takes a twist and then through great structure of events the
hidden metaphoric and contrary mystery is revealed. First published in 1843,
the short story is essentially what story writing is all about.
