Don't Believe Everything You Think - Joseph Nguyen.
Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen.
Considering the current times, there couldn’t
be a better book to read for each human mind. This book actually, as stated, has
the ability to change lives for the better, if not economically, then mentally
and soulfully. “Don’t’ Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen” is an
essential read for current times. The basic premise of the book concentrates in
making the reader understand as to how “Human Thinking” is the absolute
beginning and end of suffering. The underline point that the author tries the
reader to understand is that for each one of us, it is our thinking and
overthinking that results in the majority of the suffering that we undergo
rather than actual events that takes place.
The book is divided into various sections. The
sections are in chronology for the reader to discover the magical truth to most
of the human suffering. The book starts with the “The Journey to find the root
cause of the suffering”. In this section, the reader shall come across
insightful details on the various reasons for human suffering and why do human
think and overthink. There’s an interesting
portion in this book that brings out the difference between “Thinking” and “Thoughts”.
It’s interesting and insightful.
The section “How the human experience is
created- The three Principles” brings the readers towards three important concepts
of Universal Mind, Universal Consciousness and Universal Thought. These are
some great concepts that we all know about but often ignore in our daily lives.
The section “How can we possibly thrive in the
world without Thinking?” brings forth the difference between Anxiety and flow.
Anxiety is just another form of thinking while thoughts are just a part of the
flow. The readers will understand as to what goes on in the human mind when one
is doing their best possible work or work that they love to do.
The next section brings us near to the concept
as to how we can continue to dream, and plan for our goals and ambition without
overthinking. The author beautifully brings out the different sources of goals
that is “Goals created out of inspiration” and “Goals created out of
desperation”. The source of the goal impacts as to how we can achieve everything
without overthinking.
The next portion of the book will showcase the
readers the concepts of unconditional love and unconditional creation. Readers
will enjoy the impact unconditional creation has on the human mind as show
cased in this section.
There are some great Zen stories in the various
chapters that reveal the learnings in an impactful way. Each of the Zen stories
inserted in the various sections are beautiful and shows us some hidden truths
about our daily lives.
There’s a good section that dives deep into the
importance of human intuition and reveals the steps as to how to follow your
intuition. This is an absolute sacred chapter which concentrates on the fact
that the human heart and intuition already knows what one truly wants to become
and everything else becomes secondary.
The final chapter in the journey reveals about
the after effects of living a life of non-thinking and potential obstacles that
one comes across. There is also a detailed procedure listing as to how to
follow the path of non-thinking and concentrate on the flow. The most essential
part in this is the fact that one has to always recall the reality that “Thinking
is the root cause of all the suffering and problems” and half of the fight is
won.
The book is an absolute revelation for the
current times. Reading through the book one would get a sense that majority of
the concepts are hard to follow in our busy and money minded life of current
times. However, that’s where the challenge lies. There are lot of concepts that
one can implement successfully, if not everything. It’s not possible for the human
mind to not overthink, especially in current times with the level of
information overload and the epidemic known as “ FOMO- Fear of missing out”,
but the negative impact can be easily limited by following some of the concepts
as stated in the book.
The book is a short book, comprising of some
170 pages. The reading has to be slow and absorbing. Quick reading of the
concepts will not help one. Further, there are some great quotes all throughout
the book and it makes an impactful addition to the overall essence of the book.
“Don’t; Believe Everything You Think by Joseph
Nguyen” is a highly recommended books for current times. This book is equivalent
to the importance of “The Psychology of Money” and “Deep Work” in our lives.
The Book will surely help make an impact on the readers life, if not completely
change it.
A highly recommended soulful read.
